NIU-Rockford is conveniently located ½ mile east of the I-90/Business 20 (East State Street) interchange which is:
· 60 miles (via I-90) northwest of Chicago O'Hare International Airport
· 16 miles south of the Wisconsin state line
· 40 miles east of Freeport

Access from the south and west (via Bypass 20)
Exit Bypass 20 to I-90 north (to Wisconsin) and drive three miles to the Business 20/East State Street exit. Follow north and east directions.

Access from the north and east (via I-90)
Exit I-90 at Business 20 (East State Street). Take a left turn (east) from the exit ramp onto East State Street. Drive ½ mile and turn left at the light onto University Drive. Drive one block to Northern Avenue and turn right. There are 350 non-metered parking spaces surrounding the center.
