NIU-Rockford has two videoconferencing rooms used for evening NIU classes, which are available for client meetings on weekdays. This high-tech system enables groups to have interactive meetings through the transfer of video, audio and data over a T-1 line. Past clients have used the system for job interviews and product development discussions.

Videoconferencing rooms are reserved like all other NIU-Rockford meeting rooms with the addition of a pre-meeting test between NIU and your destination site. This test must be conducted successfully by our NIU-Rockford technology manager before a contract is issued to ensure equipment compatibility.

Videoconferencing enables groups of people at different locations around the world to hold interactive meetings through the T-1 line's ability to transmit audio, video and data between two or more sites, according to the International Teleconferencing Association.

A client may conference at various line capacities of the T-1 line, which determines the speed that the data is transmitted. The higher the speed, the faster that the data will be transmitted, and the higher the quality the picture will be. Line speed is determined based on equipment capatibility.
